Nigeria needs men and women of honour who are ready to make genuine sacrifices. Revolutionary leaders who subscribe to the ideals of the RevNig Movement (RevNig). Virtuous leaders that possess the following character traits:
Transparent and Truthful Leaders
Leaders who will have nothing to hide about themselves. Who will display information such as educational qualification, health status, tax report and assets declaration publicly on their websites/blogs for Nigerians to vet, approve, or disapprove.
This simple act of transparency will save us all the troubles we experienced during Yaradua’s and now Buhari’s health saga. They lied to us about their health conditions. This openness will also help screen candidates’ educational qualifications properly. We must recall how Buhari’s certificate became a topic of discussion in 2015. Same goes for a whole lot of other politicians who go about with questionable educational qualifications, false tax report and fake assets declaration.
Furthermore, this information will help screen out dubious leaders–If you say you are what you are, Nigerians will have time to investigate you. There always are classmates, doctors, co-workers or business partners at a time in your life who will approve or disprove your claims. It will be difficult to lie.
Revolutionary Leaders Who Will Fly, Ride, Wear, Eat and Drink Nigeria
A president who will do away with presidential jets and travel on the national carrier (Nigeria Air) like leaders of Italy, Britain, Japan and the likes from the developed world who use their nation’s domestic airlines or military jets to travel.
A president who will sell all presidential jets and channel the proceeds into reviving or supporting the national carrier.
A president, governor, ministers, parliamentarians and the likes who will dump not only their jets but also their exotic cars and ride in made in Nigeria vehicles.
These sacrifices will save the billions of taxpayers’ money wasted in purchasing and maintaining the many presidential and private jets in the fleet of the president and governors.
These sacrifices will also boost patronage for Nigerian car manufacturers along with giving employment to the many unemployed Nigerian youths.
Similarly, we need leaders who will wear made in Nigeria clothes, eat made in Nigeria foods, and drink made in Nigeria drinks and beverages to publicise locally produced products. This act of patronage will encourage local manufacturers of these commodities.
Leaders Who Will Cut Waste to the Barest Minimum
Revolutionary leaders who will go into government houses and cut wastefulness to the barest minimum. Cutting down on the number of staffs, personal assistants, security apparatus and personnel, the number of cars in their convoys, and the number of parties held at the government houses.
Parliamentarians who will make groundbreaking laws
Parliamentarians who are ready to champion, pass or ease legislations like the recall votes, part-time membership of parliament, the scrapping of the Senate, voting right for Nigerians in the diaspora, independent candidacy and the freedom of information in their first 100 days.
Leaders Who Will Change the Unjust Salary Structure
Leaders who will either serve without pay or peg their salaries at ratio 10:1 as proposed by RevNig. The highest paid worker must not earn more than ten times the least paid government employee.
The above sacrifices will save Nigeria hundreds of billions of naira. One may ask, where do we find such revolutionary leaders in Nigeria today? They are out there. Please read on….
